Honest Formly Review: Is It Worth It In 2025?

I could earn a tiny commission if you shop using my links. Please read my disclaimer for more.

You’ve done the work. Someone found your blog post, clicked the link in your Instagram bio, or finally opened your email. They’re ready.

But then… your form takes too long to load, asks for too much, or just looks sketchy.

A weak form kills momentum fast. And for solo business owners, that means lost leads, wasted traffic, and more time spent chasing the same results.

That’s why I wanted to see if Formly could offer a better way – one that feels simple to create, looks good across devices, and doesn’t require any coding.

Here’s my honest Formly app review after building several forms with it.

Note to avoid confusion

There are several tools called Formly. This review is about a no-code form builder Formly, an app that you can find at getformly.com and getformly.app.

Formly Overview

4.7
  • Build forms, quizzes, surveys
  • Easy to customize
  • Tons of pre-made templates
  • Fully brandable
  • No tech skills needed

Quick summary of my experience with Formly

I’ve been meaning to create a quiz-type lead magnet for one of my sites for years, but didn’t wanna lock myself into expensive subscriptions that all the other tools seem to offer.

And before Formly, none of the affordable form builders I tried had all the interactive features I needed or easy-to-use templates I actually visually liked.

With Formly, I was able to create a nice-looking, branded lead-generating quiz in just a few minutes – ready to start collecting responses right away!

If you’ve been holding off on building lead forms because of price or complexity, Formly is 100% worth trying, especially with the lifetime deal on the table.

What is Formly?

Formly is a no-code form builder that makes it easier to collect and organize information from potential or current clients.

You can use it to create opt-in forms for lead magnets, gather client feedback through surveys, create fun quizzes to collect emails on your blog, or streamline your client intake process with conditional questions.

Each form can be shared with a simple link or embedded into a webpage.

All form answers are stored in one place, so you’re not digging through your inbox to find what someone sent. It’s designed to work across devices and doesn’t require any integrations to start collecting useful data fast.

Formly’s benefits

Who is Formly for?

Formly isn’t trying to be everything for everyone. It’s a simple form building solution for people who need to collect info quickly, share links easily, and keep things moving without getting lost in the tech.

If your business can benefit from adding a lead magnet or a quiz, Formly might be an easy way for you to scale your operations and guide your customers!

Here’s who Formly is built for:

  • Coaches and consultants who need a simple way to collect inquiries or onboard new clients without back-and-forth emails.
  • Bloggers and content creators looking to grow their email list by offering freebies or newsletter opt-ins that actually convert.
  • Service-based business owners who need clean intake forms, feedback forms, or payment forms that work across devices.
  • Course creators and educators who want to deliver lead magnets, collect sign-ups, or run student surveys without tech headaches.
  • Freelancers and solopreneurs who want a faster way to collect project briefs, client files, or approvals – without clogging up their inbox.
  • Anyone running offers through social media who needs a fast, mobile-friendly form that can live right in their bio link.

Most important Formly features

If based on the use cases above you think Formly may be the right choice for you, let me walk you through its main features so you can take a peek before purchasing.

1. Template library

Formly has a pretty extensive template library, which makes getting started faster.

They seem to really know their customer and have put enough thought into various use cases you might need.

You can choose a category on the left and then click See More in the right corner for each category to see all the relevant templates.

Here’s a quick look at all the Formly templates for quizzes:

Choosing quiz templates in Formly

Whether you’re building a quiz, an intake form, or a quick feedback survey, there’s usually something close to what you need in Formly’s template library.

(And if you happen to have a unique use case they didn’t think of, starting from scratch is probably faster than trying to remake an existing template, so use that instead.)

Some templates I liked, some seemed a little outdated to me – but those may actually be more appealing (due to looking familiar) for your audience if you have, say, a brick-and-mortar service-based business and are targeting older people.

You can also utilize the search at the top if you are looking for something specific. For example, try typing “lead”, “trivia”, or “shop”.

2. Easy form builder

The form builder itself is simple and while it has a lot of features, it doesn’t feel overwhelming.

Most of the process is happening on the first tab, Create.

On the left, you’ve got a clear outline of all your questions, sections, and possible endings—color-coded so it’s easy to stay organized.

You can drag and drop questions to change their order and customize pretty much everything you see on the page via the settings panel on the right.

There you can tweak everything from text alignment to question types, color scheme, and all the visual elements of your form. It’s flexible and actually pretty powerful, but somehow they managed to keep the interface intuitive and nothing feels buried.

There’s a live preview feature so you can demo your quiz at any point.

3. Multiple question types

Formly gives you a wide range of question types to work with, so you’re not stuck using the same old formats.

Pro Tip: Most people hate typing long texts, especially on mobile, so aim to utilize interactive questions instead wherever possible.

To add a new question or slide, first make sure you’re on the Create tab, then press the Plus icon next to the “Questions” in the left sidebar.

A question in Formly can be anything from short and long text, dates and numbers, to multiple choice, image-based answers (my favorite!), dropdowns, and yes/no questions.

Here are a few examples of how different question types look in Formly:

If you are surveying your customers, you can make good use of features like Rating and Opinion Scale to make giving feedback super easy for them.

Beyond standard input, there are pre-defined types that allow you to collect emails, phone numbers, signatures, and even files – great for minimizing back-and-forth when you work with clients!

Each question type is color-coded, which makes organizing long forms or quizzes way easier at a glance. Whether you’re building a lead-gen quiz or a quick survey, you’ve got the flexibility to structure it exactly how you need.

4. Score calculator

If your form is more like quizzes than just gathering data, Formly provides a built-in score calculator to generate results based on your user’s inputs.

You can assign point values to answers or use variables with natural names.

This is especially great for any kind of a lead magnet that ends with a personalized result. There’s no need for complicated setup or third-party tools – it all happens within the builder.

When all the values are assigned, Formly will automatically calculate totals and choose the result based on how someone responds.

5. Display logic

Formly lets you control which questions someone sees based on how they answer previous ones. This logic-based display keeps your forms shorter and more relevant, so people don’t have to scroll through questions that don’t apply to them.

It’s helpful for things like service qualification, segmented feedback, or making your quiz feel more personalized. The interface for setting this up is straightforward, and you can test it out as you build to make sure everything flows.

This can also apply if you are showing a personalized result (also called an Ending or a Thank You Screen in Formly) right after they finish the quiz:

formly display logic

This image may look overwhelming at first, but if you look closely, it’s really as simple as it gets with quizzes.

If certain condition is met then show or hide specified questions.

You can have multiple conditions with AND/OR logic and show/hide multiple slides at a time, which is a pretty common behavior for quizzes.

How to create a new form with Formly

Creating a new form with Formly is a really simple and intuitive process.

Here is a step-by-step walkthrough so you can create your own Formly form in minutes:

1. Choose a template

When you first sign up, you are met with a minimalist dashboard where you can create a form right away via one of the two buttons:

formly dashboard
Formly dashboard

It will prompt you to choose a template or you can start from scratch if you already have a certain look in mind and want full control.

formly form creation step

One thing I like about this step is that you can preview any of the templates before building it! Sometimes it’s annoying with other tools when you think it’s the right template but halfway through building your form you realize it’s not what you expected or it doesn’t have the features you need.

Formly completely eliminates the possibility of wasting your time like that.

Just hover on any template you like and you’ll see the Preview button.

Demo any template in Formly

Clicking on it will open the demo that you can quickly click through and see if it’s what you need.

A great thing here I noticed right away is that Template Preview shows you how the form looks on both desktop and mobile. This is another benefit of using Formly – all their templates seem to be responsive and look good on mobile, which is where the majority of your visitors likely are.

If you like the template, just click “Use this template” in the top right corner.

2. Customize the form

Whether you went with a template or chose to start from scratch, this is the editor you’ll see.

Here you can create all the steps for your form, customize the design, and set up the logic if needed. (For more details on this, please refer to the Formly features section above.)

3. Share your Formly form

When you are finished customizing your new Formly form, it’s time to share it!

Before you can share it, make sure to Publish your form by clicking on the prominent button on the Create tab (in the top right corner).

If you don’t publish, the link won’t work – it will say that your form is not accepting new submissions.

All good and published? Let’s share your form with the world!

Head to the Share tab at the top and choose how you want to share this form.

sharing your form

Simply copy the link if you’re sharing on socials or in an email, or copy the code if you want to embed it on your website.

How you embed it depends on your website setup. For example, if you use WordPress, you’ll need to simply add a new Custom HTML block and insert this code in it.

If you have a gold Formly plan or higher (or any of the lifetime deals!), you can customize your form URLs to a subdomain dedicated to your business.

So instead of a generic link like this:

https://getformly.app/2sY3O9

your link will look like this:

https://yourbusinessname.getformly.app/2sY3O9

4. See the responses

When you share your form and responses start rolling in, you can see all of them on the last tab, Results.

I love this because you don’t need to fish for every entry in your email inbox!

Formly also lets you download all the responses it as a CSV or PDF file.

Additionally, you can set up email notifications if you want to be notified of each submitted form or send customized emails with quiz results.

Other things I like about Formly

I can’t possibly list all the features I like in Formly (they have A LOT!) but I will highlight a few things that I found the most helpful when creating my forms:

  • Google Sheets integration. Connect your Google account and automatically send all entries to Google Sheets so you don’t even need to log in to Formly much after creating the forms. This also allows for various automations via Web Hooks if you wanna process that data further.
  • Branded forms. While there are many pre-defined color schemes to choose from, you can make the form completely your own by using your brand colors and logo.
  • Good customer support. I left a somewhat specific question in the support chat and they got back to me in a few hours with a very thorough answer that left me with no further questions. What a breath of fresh air after templated responses and unhelpful AI chatbots so many tools have nowadays!
  • Helpful tutorials. If you are unsure of how to use a certain Formly feature, look for the “Learn more” with a little question mark icon. I noticed it was always there with an answer or an example when I needed help!

Formly pricing

Here’s how Formly pricing looks like in 2025:

formly pricing
  • There is a Free plan that allows you to create 3 forms with up to 15 questions in each, and collect up to 100 responses per month. This is a pretty good deal if you are starting a new business or only have a handful of new clients per month. Note that some of the best features, such as branding or sending email notifications, are not available on a Free plan.
  • Silver plan is $19 per month and lets you create unlimited forms with no question restrictions. If you don’t expect more than a thousand entries per month, this is a good option for you.
  • Gold plan is the best for established businesses with a steady flow of responses who don’t want any limitations. This plan collects unlimited entries and this is what you’ll need if you are using Formly for creating lead magnets with any decent traffic.

Does Formly have a lifetime deal?

Yes! As of summer 2025, Formly offers a lifetime deal on AppSumo for just $99.

formly pricing lifetime deals

I think this is a really good value deal! Even on the smallest plan you get unlimited forms, 10k responses per month (remember that Silver plan only allows 1k entries!), and 5 subdomains.

I love tools that you only need pay once for, and the features included are actually worth it – this is totally one of them! Click on the button below to see if the lifetime deal is still available.

Room for improvement

While I think Formly is a good tool for quick form building, no software is perfect, so here are a few things I didn’t like:

  • Some of the templates look a bit outdated. I think Formly would benefit from adding some modern-looking templates targeted at younger audiences.
  • Some of the features are only available in higher tier plans, but Formly lets you use them anyway. That is not a bug – it will come back to bite you when you finish customizations and try to publish the form. You actually won’t be able to publish until you undo all the premium features or upgrade your plan. I think this is not a very ethical approach.
  • I faced a small problem when customizing the color scheme for my quiz – for some reason, a background image wouldn’t save and would reset to the default image after saving. Not a critical thing as most people won’t even need this functionality, but a bit annoying so I had to take a few points off.

The lifetime deal makes it even better. For a one-time payment, you get a tool that can handle lead magnets and surveys for you forever – without the usual tech headaches or ongoing costs.

Overall, Formly is a solid choice if you want to streamline your workflow while still keeping things simple and looking professional.
