As a content creator focused on AI and productivity, I was instantly drawn to Writeseed’s unlimited plan and its 5-taco AppSumo rating. If it also delivers on quality, I thought, it sounds almost too good to be true.
So, I did what any curious professional would do – I purchased the tool and put it through its paces.
In this honest Writeseed review, I’ll share my personal experience with the platform and dissect its most prominent features.
But most importantly, I’ll show you a bunch of samples so you can decide for yourself whether or not the quality of the generated articles matches your standards.
Quick summary of my experience with Writeseed
With a one-time payment of $88 for an unlimited plan, my expectations were cautiously optimistic. I’ve been in the software world long enough to know that you usually get what you pay for.
Surprisingly, Writeseed exceeded my expectations. Unlike Brain Pod AI, which disappointed me before, this AI article writer, although not perfect, came through on its promise.
The platform allows for speedy bulk generation, and the output is fairly decent. As a bonus, you get a featured stock image for each article – one less thing to worry about.
That said, it might not be good enough for everyone. If you’re focused on SEO-friendly content, this tool might not be your go-to. I would not recommend relying solely on Writeseed for optimizing articles and rather pair it with an advanced SEO tool like Neuronwriter (that’s what I use).
The Chrome extension was a pleasant surprise. It’s a nice add-on that can give you a hand wherever you are on the web, but I would mostly use it as an AI email assistant.
Overall, Writeseed is a solid choice for anyone looking to scale content generation without burning a hole in their pocket. While it doesn’t quite measure up to the more advanced AI generators like KoalaWriter, it may be a good fit depending on what you need from your content creation tool.
What is Writeseed?
Writeseed is an AI-powered article generator for quick content production. It is able to create full blog articles exceeding 1,000 words in a matter of a couple of minutes, making it an excellent tool for scaling your content creation without investing in hiring writers.
The platform also allows you to bulk-generate several pieces of content at once based on the list of keywords. To assist you in other writing tasks, Writeseed comes equipped with an AI co-writer and offers over 70 AI templates for various use cases from generating emails to brainstorming business names.
Who is Writeseed for?
If you’re a blogger, freelance writer, or content marketer looking for a way to scale your content output without compromising quality, Writeseed could be right up your alley.
Brands aiming to extend their reach through consistent and varied content can also benefit from its features.
Whether you’re looking to populate your blog with long-form articles, generate a series of social media posts, or even brainstorm topic ideas, Writeseed offers a versatile suite of tools to meet these and other needs.
Key Writeseed features
Let’s take a look at the most prominent features Writeseed has to offer.
1. Full-length article creation
One of the cornerstone features of Writeseed is its ability to generate full-length articles that can exceed 1,000 words. (They say 2,000+, but that was not my experience.)
You start by giving Writeseed your target keyword and pressing Research.
The tool generates several titles you can choose from or come up with your own.
It also finds related and similar keywords you can choose to include in the article.
There is also a section with top search results so you can get a feel of the competition and identify the user intent without doing a separate search.
Keyword generation didn’t work for me on the first attempt – it just generated titles and nothing where keywords should be. After using Writeseed for a while and thinking it just didn’t work, I had a hunch that it might be my issue and not theirs.
After I turned the AdBlock extension off, keywords started to appear! That said, choosing keywords did not help SEO in any way – the article got a 28 score.
The next step is an outline. It takes about 3 seconds to generate an outline.
You can choose how many headings you want. It’s set to 10 by default, with a minimum of 4 headings and a maximum of 12. All headings are H2s.
At the point of writing this, you don’t have much control of the outline other than choosing the number of headings and editing each one. But you can click Rewrite Outline to generate a new one if you don’t like what you got.
Since Writeseed is only several months old, it’s understandable that they don’t have every possible feature yet. I’m hoping to see the enhanced outline process as they grow. Would be nice to be able to reorganize and remove headings, add your own, and choose between H2 and H3 for a better article structure.
When you are satisfied with the outline, just click next to start the generation.
Writeseed says to expect 60-120 seconds for article generation and it indeed takes about a minute and a half on average based on my tests.
And there you have it – a full article with headings and SEO score.
The length is a bit unpredictable: as you can see, this one had 10 headings and resulted in 1900+ words, and the next one I generated was about 1050 words with 12 headings, so you don’t always know what to expect.
I like that the resulting article is structured in a reader-friendly format with no more than 3 sentences per paragraph. Many AI writers just generate long walls of text you have to go and break down yourself, so this is a nice touch.
As a bonus, Writeseed finds you a featured stock image from Unsplash and even credits the author.
Writeseed AI sample
You were probably looking for a Writeseed review to not just hear someone’s opinion but to see the actual samples, am I right?
Here is one I saved for you! You can judge the quality by yourself.
I think it’s good enough and similar to what a good entry-level freelance writer would produce (only 100x faster and much cheaper). Not quite as advanced as Koala or other professional writing tools offer, but better than some other generators I tested.
That said, I don’t need to put it through an AI detector to see that it’s AI-generated. If you use AI tools a lot like I do, you can see the typical tone and sentence structure.
Since Google has nothing against AI-generated content, I wouldn’t worry about it too much. Still, I would make sure to personalize the article and add your unique voice here and there to make it stand out.
If you don’t like a particular part of the article, you can use the Rewrite feature to quickly regenerate sentences or paragraphs without having to rewrite them manually.
For example, I asked Writeseed to rewrite one paragraph, and here is the result:
Managing stress is crucial for both our physical and mental well-being. Chronic stress has been linked to a wide range of health problems, including heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, obesity, and mental health disorders such as anxiety and depression. By learning effective stress management techniques, we can reduce the negative impact of stress on our bodies and minds, and improve our overall quality of life.
Effective stress management is essential for maintaining optimal physical and mental health. Prolonged stress has been associated with a plethora of health issues, including cardiovascular disease, hypertension, diabetes, obesity, and mental health disorders like anxiety and depression. By mastering stress management techniques, we can mitigate the detrimental effects of stress on our bodies and minds, and enhance our overall well-being.
You can see it’s pretty close to the original, just different wording.
When I had my first freelance writing gigs back in 2009, I sometimes had to rewrite articles, and this is similar to what it looked like. I would say that a lot has changed in the industry since then and in all honesty, this is not the quality of content you can compete with in today’s blogging world.
Unless you are in a rare niche with no competition where you can get away with almost anything, I encourage you to put some extra effort into your articles and always update the AI-generated content to add your professional experience into the mix.
Besides rewriting, you can also use the Expand feature in a similar way – just select a paragraph or a sentence and press a button. From my tests, the expand feature generates text about twice as long as the original.
Another useful way to leverage Expand is if you want to include an additional section to your article after generation. You can just write the first few words of a sentence, and it will finish your thought, turning it into a solid paragraph.
2. Batch article generator
Generating multiple articles at once can be a huge time-saver, especially for those juggling multiple websites and content calendars.
Writeseed’s Batch Article Creator allows you to input up to 30 keywords, and the AI will churn out several articles in one go.
Obviously, this way you have zero control of the outline, title, or additional keywords.
When you click Create Articles, Writeseed starts the generation process and tells you to wait for 10-30 minutes.
Apparently, it doesn’t expect you to stay on this page – I was trying to measure the time, and nothing was happening.
After I waited for about 5 minutes, left the page, and then opened it again – all five articles were ready. So I can’t really tell now if it was 4.5 minutes or 1. Still pretty fast, I actually expected longer, considering that it said 10-30 minutes!
Out of 5 articles I generated with Writeseed bulk creator, the longest was 1671 words and the shortest 1232 words, which should give you an idea of the average length.
3. Pro Mode to co-write with AI
Pro Mode is another innovative feature that Writeseed offers. It essentially serves as an AI co-writer that assists you in crafting your content.
As you start typing, you can see live recommendations to the right generated by AI.
You can also select something and press Let AI Write to finish your thoughts or answer questions.
Basically, it gives you a more hands-on approach to content creation while still leveraging AI to speed things up or whenever you get stuck.
In this example, I highlighted the only things that I wrote myself.
This tool offers the same Rewrite and Expand features as we’ve seen in the full article generator.
You can also write a direct command to AI, select it, and click Let AI Write.
This editor feels a little raw, and I wouldn’t expect good formatting, but it’s useful if you prefer to have more control over how the article turns out.
I think the Pro mode is good for use cases that aren’t covered in templates.
Some other AI writing tools have an AI chat where you can have a conversation with AI. Writeseed has its own spin on it, allowing you to guide AI directly in the text editor and get results as you go without copy-pasting back and forth from the chat.
4. Chrome extension
Writeseed also offers an AI-powered Chrome extension, adding a layer of convenience to your writing tasks. Once installed, the extension can be used for generating any type of content directly within your browser, which is similar to what other AI personal assistants offer.
You can activate the Writeseed extension wherever you are by typing ++.
For example, here is an example of me using it in Gmail. The command I used:
Write a short follow up email about guest posting++
The output from Writeseed:
This is similar to what people are usually sending and quite a time-saver. Personally, I would recommend always editing a generated email to make it your own, but it’s a good foundation.
If you intend to use it in WordPress, keep in mind that it doesn’t work with Gutenberg, only with a classic editor. In fact, I tried it with Gutenberg, and it broke the page, so be careful. I also heard some users complain that it doesn’t work with Google Docs.
5. 70+ AI templates
Writeseed has an extensive library of more than 70 AI templates designed for various use cases. These range from blogging-related templates to social media posts, product descriptions, and more.
Here are some examples of what the AI tool can do that haven’t been mentioned in this Writeseed review yet:
- Explain to a child
- Blog post intro, conclusion, outline
- Summarizing and rewriting
- Email subject lines and multiple email generator cases
- YouTube video ideas, outlines, descriptions
- Facebook ad content and headline
- Podcast names, intros, topics, outlines
- 10-second story generator
- Business name ideas
- Etsy and eBay listings
- Job listings
- Essay writing
- Quora answers
While I can’t possibly demonstrate them all here, let me share a couple more that I tried.
The Summary template in Writeseed is another time-saver: it can condense long pieces of text into shorter, digestible summaries. Whether you’re dealing with lengthy reports, articles, or documents, this tool can provide a concise version, capturing the essence without losing the core message.
It’s not clear if there is a limit to the length of input Writeseed can handle.
I gave it an article of 2k+ words, and it summarized it in under 300 words. The result was actually pretty good and included all the important points from the original. It only took a few seconds to generate.
Creating compelling product descriptions is not everyone’s strong suit, so Writeseed can do this for you. With a specialized template for product descriptions, the platform generates text that not only highlights the features and benefits but also engages potential customers.
It’s an efficient way to quickly populate an online store or catalog with high-quality descriptions that can drive sales and improve the customer experience.
You can choose the language and one of the 11 tone options, for example, friendly, persuasive, or professional.
To test it out, I asked Writeseed to write about waterproof hiking shoes and to use the adventurous tone. Here is the beginning of a 365-word product description it generated:
Although the quality is really good, it took about 40 seconds, which is way too long for one product description.
I would love to see this work faster and maybe offer to choose the shorter length.
Other notable Writeseed features
Brainstorming blog topic ideas
If you struggle to come up with new article ideas, Writeseed can generate a list of blog topic ideas based on your input keywords and desired article type.
It’s an effective way to overcome writer’s block and find new angles for your content, keeping your blog fresh and engaging for your audience.
There is also a brainstorming template that may help you solve a particular problem or, say, dive deeper into analyzing your reader persona.
I gave this tool just one word, and it created 20 pretty interesting titles in about 20 seconds. It’s a little slow compared to even ChatGPT, but the topics are great and would make total sense for the website.
At the very least, it gives you food for thought to brainstorm further and various angles you could explore on your blog.
If you choose to use this feature, remember to verify every topic with keyword research tools before writing to make sure people actually want to read it.
Beyond article generation, Writeseed can assist you with multiple marketing needs.
For example, it can help discover new marketing angles and strategies for your product, create engaging Facebook or Google ads, generate email copy, and so on.
For those who have specific needs that aren’t met by the existing 70+ templates, Writeseed offers the option to create custom templates.
This feature allows you to tailor the AI’s output to your unique brand voice and content requirements, providing a personalized content generation experience.
You can then reuse this new template however many times you need.
If WordPress is your go-to content management system, you’ll appreciate Writeseed’s WordPress scheduling feature.
If you connect your WordPress account, you can schedule the articles to be generated and directly published on your blog.
You can schedule up to 100 articles at once and choose the posting frequency: from every 3 hours to 1 article per week.
This integration simplifies your workflow and keeps everything streamlined.
Unlike some other AI text generators I tested, where you have to jump through hoops to figure out what to click and how everything works, Writeseed has a clean user interface that is pretty straightforward.
Writeseed offers a free trial to explore the tool for 7 days and see if it’s a good fit.
After the trial, a subscription to Writeseed costs $16 per month and allows you to generate unlimited words every month. I don’t think you can find a better deal with decent content quality to scale content production.
Does Writeseed have a lifetime deal?
Yes! At the time of writing this, there is still a Writeseed lifetime deal available on AppSumo.
They offer two lifetime plans: The Premium plan can generate 20,000 words per month with one payment of $44, and the Unlimited plan (the one I have) costs $88.
They claim to give you unlimited GPT-4 usage and cover the API cost for you, which makes little sense to me. I think they might realize later that it’s not a good financial decision and stop offering the lifetime deal.
In the meantime, might as well take advantage of the deal.
Honest Writeseed review: Room for improvement
While I think Writeseed has great potential in the AI writing industry, there are a few things I don’t like.
Final verdict: Is Writeseed worth it?
Writeseed is worth it if your main priority is to generate a high volume of content at a minimum price point. If you’re building multiple niche sites and want to fill them up with decent-quality articles for a very low cost, then Writeseed is a good value for money.
However, by no means is this an advanced AI writing tool. If you want more control over outlines, tone, point of view, and other article details, you may find KoalaWriter to be a better choice.
That said, with a 60-day moneyback guarantee from AppSumo, you have nothing to lose, so might as well try it and see if it fits your needs.
Overall, I see great potential in Writeseed as a tool for content creators on a budget.
